World TB Day and SAARC TB Day 2019 on 24th March 2019
On this occasion, the Centre has commemorated the World TB Day & SAARC TB Day 2019 by organizing the following Activities in collaboration with National & Provincial Governments, Nepal on 24th March, 2019;
- Organized mass rally in Janakpur on 24th March, 2019. The rally was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Social Development Minister- Mr. Nawal Kishor Shah. Several medical school students, health care workers and community leaders participated in the rally.
- The World TB day celebration was organized in Janakpur on 24th March jointly by STAC and provincial TB program. The programme was addressed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister,Shree Lal Babu Raut as Chief Guest and Hon’ble Mr. Nawal Kishor Shah as chair person. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Pant, Director, STAC presented “TB program review findings of province No.2”. Political commitment was obtained from the chief guest and chair person to secure the fund and resources for ending TB in the province even before the national goal of ending TB by 2030.
- Dr. Ajith P. Weerakoon, Epidemiologist (Office In-charge), STAC conveyed the Message, issued by His Excellency the Secretary-General, SAARC on the occasion of World TB Day & SAARC TB Day 2019 at a function jointly organized by NTP Nepal, STAC and development partners working for TB.
