It is with great appreciation to WHO Headquarters and WHO SEARO that Dr. Anuj Bhattachan, Director of the SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Centre (STAC), Thimi, Bhaktapur attended the Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres (CCs) held from 7 to 9 April 2026 in Lyon, France. During this prestigious international gathering, Dr. Bhattachan had the distinct honour of connecting with Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization; Dr. Sylvie Briand, Chief Scientist, WHO Headquarters; Dr. Meg Doherty, WHO Headquarters; and Dr. Suman Rizal from the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office.
These high-level interactions provided a timely platform to highlight the strategic role of STAC in advancing TB and HIV/AIDS prevention, control, and elimination efforts across the SAARC Region. We extend our sincere appreciation to WHO HQ and WHO SEARO team for providing this forum for meaningful dialogue with global health leaders. Looking ahead, we wish for strengthened collaboration between STAC and the World Health Organization, leveraging the Centre’s unique regional mandate to support evidence-based policy development, capacity building, and cross-border initiatives that contribute meaningfully to the global End TB and HIV targets.
