Thirty-third Governing Board (GB) Meeting
SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Centre (STAC)

The SAARC Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS Centre (STAC) hosted its Governing Board (GB) Meeting on 16–17 October 2025 at the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The meeting was graced by the virtual participation of esteemed representatives from the Governments of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Republic of India, the Republic of Maldives, the Republic of Nepal, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. In addition, the proceedings were attended in person by an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country, Nepal, as well as by officials from the SAARC Secretariat.
The meeting was convened under the distinguished chairpersonship of Ms. Sana Saleem, Chairperson of the Governing Board of STAC and Director of Public Health at the Health Protection Agency, Ministry of Health, Republic of Maldives.
The meeting concluded on a notably successful note, marked by the insightful and constructive contributions of all esteemed Members of the Governing Board. The valuable guidance provided by the Board is expected to further enhance the Centre’s operational efficiency and strategic direction, thereby supporting the timely and effective implementation of its programme of work in the coming year.
The Governing Board Members conveyed their sincere appreciation to the STAC for the commendable arrangements and the high-quality presentations delivered during the two-day Governing Board Meeting. They reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to supporting the Centre’s endeavours and to upholding the integrity and effectiveness of its governance mechanisms.
The Members further extended their best wishes for the successful implementation of STAC’s programme of work for 2026, which aspires to advance the shared vision of a South Asia free from tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, in alignment with the collective targets set by the Member States.
